Trick-Or-Treat-Or-Not-I-Guess

I hope everybody has found what they're after this Hallow's Eve.

(right? or is that the day BEFORE Halloween?)

The streets are quiet tonight. Orange leaves rustle in a mottled carpet along the pathways of my town. A cool, but notably warm October breeze whistles in the trees. All of this creates a pastiche of a lovely autumn evening, but ever since leaving college, I've never seen "kids these days" trick-or-treating in droves like I remember in my youth.

Trunk-or-treats are more safe and easy and popular, and I'm sure it's easier on the parents, but I do feel the absence of seeing what costumes kids are cooking up and getting to greet and spook and connect with people in my community. Maybe I'm living with the realities of living in a development chock-a-block with retirees, and to be perfectly fair, the diner food here is quite good and the roads are quiet.

So you win some and you lose some, I suppose.

Happy Halloween, go get some candy from strangers, kids!
