The Blue Wave

Well, that election was certainly something, huh?

Before anybody misconstrues my jabs, I'd like to really stress that I am neither a staunch holier-than-thou, warmongering, corrupt, performative Democrat, nor am I a misogynist, xenophobic, soulless, warmongering, corrupt, scum-sucking Republican. It sure is fun to see the most evil people in the world stammer and scuttle about, harrumphing about how they could have lost the American people's support, though.

In times of unrest and public distrust in institutions, incumbent parties perform poorly and there are rapid shifts in who's in charge. And go figure, after a bottomless list of corruption and scandals, the rape of our natural resources and environment, an explosion in AI-powered draconian surveillance systems, and state-sponsored violence where immigrants are illegally dragged out of their homes by federal agents, and American citizens are gunned down in the streets by those same government thugs, that people might decide they'd like to vote in members of the opposing (but undoubtedly still corrupt) party.

Of course, there are things to be positive about. I do believe that more liberals in the legislature will hopefully put some emergency brakes on the runaway insanity that our nation has been engaged in. God willing, we can stop the idiotic war on Iran, and maybe, just maybe, we can stop sending a seemingly endless supply of money and weapons to a bloodthirsty, warmongering foreign nation that seems to do nothing but drag us into conflict and control our politicians through gratuitous donations and bribery.

At the end of the day, real change starts at home. If anything, I hope that the results of this election energize people to get involved in their communities, connect with your neighbors, find ways to give back and support our those that need help. Because if anything can be gleaned from the track record of Democrats in the last 15 years, it'll be a lot of shifting to the right in the name of "working across the aisle", satisfying their corporate megadonors, and claiming their hands are tied. Maybe if we put some actual pressure on these public servants (let's remember, politicians are supposed to be working for us, after all) we could see some real positive change.

I won't be holding my breath.
